Festival of Voices

The Festival of Voices celebrates the human voice and brings together music lovers and vocal enthusiasts from around the world. From a cappella choirs to soulful soloists, the Festival of Voices embraces the power of singing to unite, uplift and bring joy back into winter. The festival offers a platform for emerging artists and established performers to share their passion while inviting the community to participate in workshops and join the joyful chorus. Whether you're a seasoned vocalist or simply someone who appreciates the magic of song, the Festival of Voices is an heartful celebration that will leave you inspired and in awe of the incredible capabilities of the human voice.

AFL

Tassie has a long and passionate history of Australian rules football, and Hobartians embrace AFL games with enthusiasm and fervour. Each year, AFL matches are held in both Launceston and Hobart. With the recent announcement of a Tasmanian team, Hobart has solidified its place as a significant destination for Australian rules football and continues to foster a love for the game in this passionate region.

The fixture for the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season has been announced, North Melbourne Football Club will play four games at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena.

Huon Valley Mid-Winter Feast
14th - 15th July 2023

A short drive from Hobart lies the scenic Huon Valley, which hosts an annual Mid-Winter Festival. This celebration pays homage to the region's apple-growing heritage while embracing winter solstice traditions. Attendees can participate in traditional wassailing, an ancient singing and dancing ritual to bless the apple trees for a bountiful harvest, while enjoying live music, storytelling, and fire performances. The Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival is a unique cultural experience that embodies European winter traditions.

Beaker Street festival
4th – 13th August

Beaker Street Festival is an annual celebration of science and culture in lutruwita*/Tasmania. This year, Beaker Street Festival centres on the theme “Unseen,” giving participants a behind-the-scenes look at the science in everyday life. What’s typically out of sight will be prominently displayed in the festival’s innovative and thought-provoking program, including talks and presentations by world-leading scientists, live music and performances, scientist-led tours and intimate dinners, and Tasmanian food and beverages. The festival will delve into some of today’s most pressing topics while giving people up-close access to some of the most prominent scientists in Australia.
