OUR GARDENS

We acknowledge that The Old Woolstore stands on the country of the Muwinina people of Nipaluna (Hobart). We would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community, the traditional owners and continued custodians of the land and waters of Lutruwita (Tasmania).

We have a dedicated outdoor space to acknowledge Country with an array of Tasmanian native plants and art installations by Pakana (Tasmanian Aboriginal) artist Janice Ross and Tasmanian artist Evie Silver, with words by Pakana woman Theresa Sainty. The artworks focus on plants, birds and insects of the Hobart Rivulet which once flowed underfoot and opened into the Timtumili Minanya / River Derwent at this site. The space can be found by following a trail of ants (artworks by Evie Silver that line the path to the garden) which reference the Tasmanian Aboriginal creation story of how the waterways that flowed from Kunanyi/Mt Wellington were created by Lala, a small black ant.

To reserve this space as part of your event please speak with our Events Coordinator.
