3 reasons why Tasmania is the perfect place to drive an EV

We love driving in Tasmania; it’s an adventure. The hills, mountains, valleys, rainforests, rural rolling hills and small towns dotted along the way. But would you risk taking an EV here?

Absolutely.

We’d even argue that Tasmania is the perfect place to take your EV on holiday!

Here’s why:

  1. Tasmania is the renewable energy state

We are proud to be running on 100% renewable energy, which means you can feel extra good about recharging your EV on our island. With a heavy dependence on hydropower stations and the installation of some relatively new wind turbines, Tasmania has reached its 100% renewable energy goal two years ahead of schedule!

2. What goes up must come down

There are plenty of hilly areas and small mountains in Tasmania. Hills will indeed eat up your battery power, but on the way down, it feeds them. Not to the same extent, but the regeneration from the electric motor will put a bit of juice back into your battery. So don’t panic on your way up!

3. Tasmania is compact

Distances between towns and natural attractions are relatively short. Our island is also well equipped with EV charging stations. Tasmania still has a little way to go, but EV charging stations are popping up all over the map, including the ones we’ve added to The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel.

At The Old Woolstore, we’re excited to be partnered with Drive Car Hire, a Tasmanian car rental company with a fleet of Tesla Model 3s.

We’re proud to provide two 7KVA electric vehicle charging stations for in-house guest use. With a $10 nightly charging fee in the heart of Hobart, we think it’s a great deal. To find out more about our EV charging stations, you can give us a call, or make an online enquiry.
