Spring in Hobart is the best time to take a bike break down south.

Whether you’re after a ride that is scenic, steep or scary, Hobart does not disappoint.

The best way to view the city is on two wheels. We recommend taking the kunanyi Mount Wellington Explorer Bus, which will drop you and your bike at the summit of kunanyi/Mount Wellington for a self-guided downhill adventure. And it is an adventure. Top to bottom, there is 1270m of vertical altitude to enjoy. You have the option to go straight down or explore some trails along the way before riding to the waterfront.

To ride the best Hobart trails that only the locals know, we suggest contacting Hobart Mountain Bike Tours, who cater to all riding levels. Whether you’d like a meandering tour of the waterfront or craving a challenge with rocks, roots and tight corners, they’ve got you covered.

If you time things right, you could even join us at the Big Bike Film Night in Hobart on the 12th Of October! It’s being held at Village Cinemas, just a 15 minute walk or a quick ride away.

And once you get back from your ride, we can help you take care of your bike. With a secure lockup area for your bike and an on-site bike wash, The Old Woolstore is well equipped. You can even request a stand and mat for your bike to keep it in your room or apartment.

So bring your bike down to Hobart this spring. We promise you won’t regret it.
